Dear partners of the mountain travel industry,

It is a great pleasure and honor for us to host the 2nd annual European Mountain Travel Summit, organized by Northstar Travel Group. We celebrated the success of the first edition in January 2017 and are committed to the development and fruition of this unique summit.

I truly believe in the potential of EMTS, taking place in the heart of the Alps and connecting decision makers from the Americas, Asia, and Europe. The challenges we all have to face in the mountain travel industry are varied and continuously changing. Together at EMTS we can work towards finding the right answers.

The content for the next edition has been carefully developed by Northstar and will ensure the speakers and attendees benefit from EMTS. They will gain insight, exchange high level ideas, and discuss crucial matters.

Everyone will experience the best conditions and atmosphere Crans-Montana has to offer to allow a successful summit. Crans-Montana is one of the biggest resorts in Switzerland and it is a perfect location to combine high level exchange with the amenities of sport activities and culinary delights. The resort has been in operation for 125 years. Based on that long and rich tradition, we want to develop and innovate our tourism, sense of hospitality, and offer some unique and outstanding experiences to our visitors. Bidding for the FIS Alpine World Championship of Alpine skiing and being the potential host destination for Alpine skiing within the Olympic project Sion 2026, Crans-Montana is willing to build up a strong future and be the base for investment and development.

I am looking forward to meeting you in January 2018 in Crans-Montana.

Activities

Crans-Montana is the perfect setting for incredible winter experiences. Skiers of all levels enjoy the 140km ski area ranging from 1500m to 3000m. Crans-Montana is famous for its two FIS world cup pistes and its longest slope of 12kms. The snowpark has been ranked as the finest in the Alps; 100,000 square meters, spread over 2 sites. It offers modules for beginners, and for expert freestylers, consists of rails and boxes, jumps, an airbag and—above all—the only Olympic half-pipe in western Switzerland.

Besides skiing, visitors can enjoy a lot of different winter activities in the Aminona area: the paradise for nature lovers. This is the home of the “Grandeur Nature” program, which offers free guided activities from December to April: snowshoeing at sunrise, ski touring programs, a children’s treasure hunt, hiking with husky dogs and more. In the heart of Montana, ice sports will take place in of honor of the brand new 2,600 square meter outdoor ice skating rink and the indoor curling hall.

On the beautiful golf course covered by a white coat, beginners can learn to ski thanks to the very gentle slope and magic carpet which will take them back to the top of the run. They can also hurtle down the snow tubing track at top speed.

The Severiano Ballesteros and Jack Nicklaus courses are also very popular for walking. They’re accessible to everyone, and include several loops which can be completed on foot or on snowshoes. These tracks boast wonderful views and participants can take a break on one of the sunny terraces. Seven km of cross country ski tracks are also available, and the more daring can explore this wonderful area by fatbike.
